Let me start with this: this thermal Melitta coffee maker makes great-tasting coffee, BUT may not be your favorite if you like drinking super hot coffee.
The coffee it brews is delicious (depending also on the coffee you brew, of course), but may not be as hot as you expected, if you like to drink really hot coffee. Pre-heating the carafe may help, though.
On the other hand, many people like just hot coffee, not scalding hot, and for them this 10 cup thermal coffee maker may brew at a good-enough temperature.
This said, the carafe does keep your coffee warm for some time after brewing, so unlike a coffee pot warmer that keeps working and heating the coffee, the thermal carafe keeps the brewed coffee warm while not overheating and "burning" it.
The carafe will not make the coffee hotter than it was at brew point, of course.
Besides the good-tasting coffee it makes, this Melita coffee maker has a nice, sleek, stylish, and most importantly - simple design, and it is easy to operate.
It includes an auto-shutoff feature, so the thermal coffee machine shuts off automatically after brewing. It also has 3 strength settings for regular, bold and robust coffee, which is really a nice and useful feature. Additionally, it features a programmable timer to set it to brew the coffee at a given time.
It may include a bonus pack of Mellita paper filters.
You can easily access the filter basket of the coffeemaker at the push of a button. The filter holder has a handle to manipulate it easily.
Another good point of this thermal coffee maker is that it can also be used as an iced coffee maker. You can make iced coffee with it. Refer to the users manual for instructions on how to make ice coffee with this coffee machine.
However, if you are a person who likes to drink very hot coffee, I would not really recommend this thermal coffee brewer for you.
The 10 cup thermal coffee maker does not include a grinder. I saw it priced at over $100 at Amazon’s site.
By the way, Melitta has since released a newer version of the 10 cup thermal coffee maker – the 46894 model. These two thermal coffeemakers seem to me very similar according to their descriptions, and the latter one just mentioned is priced at a little bit over $60 on Amazon’s site at the time of this writing, which is noticeably cheaper than the former one mentioned above.
I would like to hear your opinion about the Melitta thermal coffee makers in any case, so please comment here.
I hope to have more thermal coffeemaker reviews shortly.
