Seattle coffee chain Starbucks said it will raise prices of brewed coffee but not their packaged coffees about 1% in some areas in the Northeast and Sunbelt regions in the US, including New York, Washington, Dallas and others.
The prices will not increase at this time in some other places, like in California and Florida.
The reason of raising the coffee prices is because of the higher costs Starbucks paid in contracts to buy coffee for the fiscal year starting from past October.
Among the items that will cost more because of the price increase in New York City, is a 12-ounce ("tall" cup) brewed coffee, as well as latte drinks, that will both see a 10 cents price increase.
So may be now is time to start thinking about roasting, grinding and brewing your own coffee at home.
