One of the Most Biased Reviews I Have Seen

I read this review and immediately knew the reviewer was biased.

To quote:

"For me, this little, compact machine does more than I need. It features an auto-shut off and a timer (I don't need a timer because I like to set my coffeemaker just at the time when I'm ready to brew and I don't need it to brew automatically while I sleep or wake up; I prefer just a basic coffeemaker provided that it has an automatic shut-off, which this Mr. Coffeemaker does have, of course)."

Sorry, but when you are reviewing a product you are supposed to put your personal preference aside and review it for what it claims to do.

It sounds like this is something that would fit my requirements. However, I will look for a more unbiased review.

Thorough Work-over of Mr. Coffee Coffeemaker Review Page
by: Owner

I'm glad to announce that the page went through a major revision, and now it contains more extensive objective reviews, information, links, photos and videos of a variety of Mr. Coffee's coffee makers, programmable and switch, of various capacities.

I hope the information and reviews here are informative and useful. Do you, people, have anything to add or comment? Please do.

Personal Comments in Product Reviews
by: Owner

I'm sorry you felt that way about the programmable Mr. Coffee coffeemaker review. You claim, there's a bias on behalf of the reviewer. There is none. But to be sure, the page is in the process of being improved, and your comment will be considered and the flaws corrected. Perhaps the personal sentiments should be separated from the objective review-points indeed. However, I don't think adding personal thoughts, in addition to pointing out clearly the objective pros and cons, is necessarily wrong. There are different personal views and preferences on products, and adding a human voice to the review - in addition to pointing out clearly the objective features of the product - by people who actually own, use and experiment with the product and are intimately familiar with it, may help others make a decision. This is quite different from just copying what others say elsewhere and pretending to know the product and its good and weak points.

You'll notice that the review states clearly what features the coffee maker includes. The reviewer just ads whether this or that feature is that much useful to him personally. The reader is informed about its features and makes his/her own decision. He/she may as well get an idea of the usefulness of a given feature to the writer of the review. He's entitled to differ. He can't argue with facts and existing features or lack of them (as long as the reviewer is honest and not mistaken in regard to the facts); he can, however, have a different opinion as per the usefulness of this or that feature. This said, I repeat what I have stated above, that in any case, the personal preferences should be clearly separated from the objective positive and negative features and characteristics. In this regard, the reviewer her may have to correct in the review - that is, as mentioned, in the process of revision - what you have pointed out.

In any case, thanks for your comments. They are appreciated.
