Size 4 American Cast Iron Old Coffee Mill

I have asked around but nobody knows the maker's name or how old a recently acquired size 4 American cast iron coffee mill is?

In my investigations so far, I wonder if it’s an old Peck Stow and Wilcox. They mostly made tools, but did make the odd coffee mill.

I maybe imagined it to be a large coffee mill that was bolted onto the side of a chuck wagon to make coffee for the cowboys in a cattle drove. Probably been watching too many western movies. Blazing saddles comes to mind.

I wonder if you could help.

Unknown Coffee Grinder
by: andy lawrence

I spotted this on UK Ebay.

It certainly looked like a coffee grinder but the seller didn't know what it was really.

The seller bought it at an auction many years ago which was close to an American airbase here in the UK and assumed it was put into the auction by a returning airman.

Now I collect cast iron coffee grinders and so far have a collection of about 25 Spongs, Kenricks and various Spong clones in all shapes and sizes plus a good few wooden ones as well, which is what attracted me to this one.

I know it's old because of the curved handle but haven't got a clue as to who made it.

Great, Andy. Fascinating shots and interesting question. I personally have no idea, but would be curious of your story. How and where did you get/find this interesting old piece?
