Honduras Coffee Farms Spared by Rina Hurricane

Tue Oct 25, 2011 - Hurricane Rina, expected to become a major hurricane, spares coffee growing areas in Mexico and elsewhere in Central America, turning away from the farms already badly affected from the violent weathers and heavy rains.

Honduras's coast was hit by Rina, now a category 2 and expected to become category 3 or higher, but its coffee farms that were struck by heavy rains last week, right before the harvest season, were spared now by the storm.

Honduras is the largest coffee producer in Central America.
