Grind and Brew Your Coffee With a Single Coffee Maker Grinder Machine

Grind and brew coffee makers are 2-in-1 coffee-maker-grinder units that include both a coffee bean grinder and a coffee brewing machine.

The coffee maker does all the work from grinding the whole coffee beans to brewing a fresh cup of coffee ready to drink.

It is advantageous for both sparing the extra work and space for separate grinding and brewing and keeping the coffee fresh as it is brewed right after the grinding.

Krup Programmable 10 Cup Coffee Maker Grinder

grind and brew coffee maker
KRUPS KM7000, 10-Cup Grind-and-Brew Coffeemaker.

This programmable 10 cup Grind N Brew coffeemaker brews up to 5oz 10 cups of coffee, which is about 50oz of coffee altogether.

It does both grinding the whole coffee beans, so that you can grind and immediately brew while the ground is still fresh, and then it brews the coffee. Or you can use it just as a brewer and skip the grinding process.

The coffee maker grinder is great for the coffee it makes, its nice design and look and its functionality; however, I won’t give it a top rating because of its many reported problems and short lifespan. Essentially, it is a great grinder coffee maker while it works.

The coffee brewer grinder brews hot, great-tasting, full-bodied coffee at the strength that you love and select.

It’s a bit tall, measure the space under your countertop to make sure it’s gonna fit in there. (It measures 11-1/2 by 11-1/8 by 15-1/2 inches.)

It is a programmable coffee maker and has digital settings to brew from 2 to 10 cups of coffee. It also has an “aroma” function for brewing smaller amounts of 2 to 4 cups.

It is easy to operate and clean. It includes a clock, a programmable timer and an automatic shut-off feature, so that you don’t have to worry to shut it off.

It also has 3 settings to set the strength of the coffee from strong to weak.

The coffee maker uses a cone shaped filter and includes a 10 cup glass carafe.

The coffee maker features an automatic coffee grinder that has 5 settings to grind the beans at various degrees of fineness from coarse to fine.

As with coffee grinders, expect the grinding to be noisy, but not overly so; it is quieter than some other grind and brew coffee makers; however, this may still be an issue if you set the automatic feature to grind for a morning coffee while you still sleep, unless you want to use it as an alarm clock.

It is a conical burr grinder which is better than a blade grinder and the better one of the 2 types of burr grinders, crushing the beans consistently and working slower not to overheat the beans and spoil the taste. Read more about the bur coffee grinder here.

The grinder has an automatic setting to grind as much ground as needed for the amount of coffee cups and the strength of the coffee that you choose. This spares the trouble of having the measure the amount of coffee to grind.

When using the coffee maker, make sure the filter cover is open, and it will snap shut on its own after the grinding is done and ground transferred into the filter.

Some negative points about the coffee grinder coffee maker :

A concern worth to mention is the ground that it throws over the counter when transferring the ground from the grinder to the filter basket, and then the need to clean up.

The carafe is designed so that it drips and water or coffee is spilled when poured.

Many people claim to have issues with this product, from various malfunctions – with the heating element, brewing cycle and other problems – to not lasting long and having the manufacturer offer to send it in to a repair center for repair (shipping – and if out of warranty, also repair – at your cost) or in some instances a replacement, and often only to be broken again not long afterwards. So be aware of this in advance, especially for a product sold at this price.

Price of the coffee grinder brewer at the time of this writing, at Amazon’s site: about $150.

12 Cup Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffee Maker

mill and brew
Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Chrome/Black.

This is one of the Cuisinart automatic grind and brew coffee makers. It grinds and brews up to 12 cups (small size) of coffee. It makes good and hot coffee.

The mill and brew machine, which is a coffee brewer and a grinder in one unit, does the whole work from grinding the beans to brewing the freshly ground coffee.

It features a bur grinder, which is better than a blade grinder and makes better and more even ground.

It has programmable features and controls to program and automate the grinding and brewing process, a strength selector to select the strength of the coffee to weak, mild or strong.

It adjusts the amount of ground according to the amount of cups and strength level you choose.

The company suggests a medium grind to prevent over extraction of the bean flavors and bitterness as a result of grinding too finely, or a weak quality due to grinding too coarsely.

The Cuisinart automatic grind and brew coffeemaker comes with an 8-ounce bean hopper, the container that contains the beans, that can take half a pound of beans, so you don’t have to refill every time, and it has a lid to seal it and prevent moisture.

It features and auto shutoff, and it has a grind-off option in case you just want to brew ready-ground beans and not use the grinder. Push the grind-off button and it will only brew.

The mill and brew coffee maker includes a commercial-style permanent filter, although you can use paper filters too.

It has a water filter to filter and purify the water for a better quality and taste.

It carries a 3-year limited warranty by the manufacturer.

One downside of this grind and brew coffee machine is that the chute, the channel that leads the beans after grinding to the brewer, is designed horizontally, which may cause ground to get stuck there and it needs cleaning after several servings, which to some may be enough of a pain to outweigh the grinder-brewer concept of grind and brew coffee makers, which aims to make life easier.

However, it is not the biggest problem you can find on a coffee machine, and for others it’s not something to worry about since cleaning is easy and takes just a few minutes.

Also, beware that it might not always last long, and some people had malfunctioning and short-lifespan problems with the coffeemaker.
