They are easy to use, require no electric and make great, rich, full-flavored coffee.
There are many kinds in various sizes. Here I will write about the stainless steel french coffee makers. I will describe some models of the much acclaimed Bodum brand, as their products are great and favored by many.
Check out other, non-stainless steel french press coffeemakers here:
4 and 6 cups french press coffee maker - (non stainless-steel).
Single Serve and 2 cup french press coffee pot - (non stainless-steel).
Making French Press coffee - the process of brewing french press coffee.
The Bodum French Press makers have great design and functionality, are easy to use and generally fairly affordable, although the stainless steel units ARE much more expensive than the other models.
The French Presses are especially known for the great-tasting, rich and strong delicious coffee they produce and this is one major reason why people favor them much all around the world. These coffee makers tend to extract the essential oil and inner flavors of the coffee beans.
Keep in mind that when the company describes the capacity of the coffee presses they refer to cup sizes about double of those used in the US. However, we'll describe them according to the American used cup sizes.
Thus, when a model is described by the company as an 8 cup coffee press, for example, we'll refer to it as just a 4 cup coffee press.

In addition to all the benefits of the Bodum French Presses in general, the stainless steel press has the advantages that it won’t break as easily as the ones with glass carafes.
It has another great plus, that it is easy to clean, which is a very important factor as the glass coffee presses are reportedly quite hard to clean.
The stainless steel coffee pots are beautiful appliances with attractive classy design and great functionality.
Also, the insulated thermal stainless steel french pots with double walls keep the coffee hot for about 2 hours, much longer than other coffee presses.
Now, I'll describe the 4 cup and the 6 cup stainless steel french press pots, as well as one 4-cup (8 4-oz cups) stainless steel thermal french pot which comes with a bonus of 2 french press coffee mugs.
This coffee pot has a capacity of 4 US size cups. As the other stainless steel units, it is priced much higher than the glass carafe french-press coffeemakers.
Actually, the price is about 4 times that of the glass models with the same "8 [Europeans] cup" (about 4 US cups) capacity.

This is another stainless steel french pot, this one accommodating 51 ounces which is perhaps about 6 US used cups, or 12 4-ounce cups.
Like the previously mentioned model, it has a stainless steel double wall and keeps the coffee hot up to 2 hours after brewing.
This is really one major advantage of stainless steel pots that they keep the coffee warm longer, which is not the case with other french pots that cool quickly and the remaining coffee is not usable unless consumed immediately.
The insulated french press is dishwasher-safe like the other stainless steel thermal french press coffee makers.
It's about the same price (about $78 at the time of this writing) as the 4 cup stainless steel pot.

This is another 34-oz (about 4 US cups) stainless steel thermal french press, with a nice bonus: it includes two white Porcelain 12 oz coffee mugs.
Since the french pot makes 34 oz, you will be able to fill up close to 3 coffee mugs with the coffee brewed in it.
This insulated french press, like the other ones, keeps the coffee warm for about 2 hours.
It should be fine for home or office. It can also be used to brew tea. It has a large handle and is dishwasher-safe.
