CONE COFFEE FILTER

Following are cone coffee filter reviews. Click here for reviews on reusable coffee filters reviews for basket-style permanent coffee maker filters.

The reusable cone coffee maker filters that I'm describing here seem to do pretty much the same good job. I'm not sure there's that much of a different between them aside of the fact that you may personally prefer to buy a filter that is made by the same brand than the coffee maker that you want to use it with.

Medelco #4 Cone Permanent Coffee Filter.

The permanent coffee cone filter works good, but before you rush to buy it make sure it fits your coffee maker, as it may not be the right size or design for your particular coffee machine.

As is often the case with reusable coffee filters they allow for some grains of the coffee ground to get through to the cup (especially for fine grinds) resulting in residue sitting at the bottom of your last cups of the pot.

Some people don't mind and they like the metal coffee filters that let through more of the natural oils and thus flavors of the coffee beans than the paper filters. If you are too concerned about this, perhaps use the paper coffee maker filters.

coffee cone filter
Mr. Coffee GTF3-1 Cone Style Permanent Filter.

The Mr. Coffee permanent cone coffee filter comes with a handle and appears to do a good job. As always, make sure in advance that the reusable filter fits your coffee machine, especially if you are using another brand, not the Mr. Coffee machines.

As I already said in regard to other coffee cone filters, some particles of the coffee may get through a reusable filter as opposed to paper filters. Personally, I don't think it's that bothersome.

Note: the bottom of this cone coffe filter is plastic.

This coffee filter is priced at about $10 now at Amazon’s site (at the time of this writing).

Permanent Gold Tone Cone Coffee Filter Reviews

cone gold tone permanent coffee filter
Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filter.

This is a Cuisinart permanent cone style Gold Tone coffee filter. Again, seems to be doing a good job and also lets some grounds slip through to the cup.

If the "sludge" doesn't bother you, permanent filters are great for allowing more of the coffee bean flavors pass through the cup, and the coffee doesn't pick up a paper taste.

In regard to this Cuisinart cone coffee filter I want you to be cautious about this point: if you are buying now a Cuisinart coffee maker and you want to buy this reusable cone filter too, be aware of two things if you buy it at Amazon's website.

First, Amazon's website commonly offer suggestions when you buy one product to buy another product too. This may look to you as though those suggested products certainly work together with the item that you currently buy. However, they may not. So make sure if you buy this filter that it indeed works with your coffee maker.

Actually that point is valid always, also if you don't currently buy a coffeemaker and also for coffee-makers of other brands.

The second point is that sometimes the coffeemaker that you buy already comes with a filter included, and it is possible that the Cuisinart coffee maker that you buy now already has the very same cone coffee filter that you want to buy now.

So before you buy make sure that the coffee maker does not have a filter included. If it has, you may not need to buy another filter.

By the way, according to the product description that I saw for this permanent gold coffee filter on Amazon’s site, it should fit the following Cuisinart coffee machines: DCC-100, DCC-900, DCC-1000, DCC-1200, and DGB-300.

(I would still suggest you to always go that extra step to make sure that it indeed fits the coffee maker that you need it for.

4 cup coffee maker gold tone coffee filter
Cuisinart GTF-4 Gold Tone Filter for Cuisinart 4-Cup Coffeemakers, Gold/Black.

The Cuisinart 4 cup gold tone coffee filter (I don't own this one, but based on images that I see online it seems to me as a cone filter, although I could not find it mentioned on product descriptions) is pretty much the same as other reusable basket filters. For some reason, people tend to mix things together, so let's set the record straight: this is a 4 cup coffee maker filter. It is NOT a #4 coffee filter.

Got the difference? It's meant to fit in a coffee maker that brews 4 cups (usually about 5oz cups, thus 20oz capacity altogether) of coffee, Cuisinart, perhaps also K-rups or other coffeemaker brands. But it is not made for large 10 or 12 cup coffee-makers as some wrongly assume for one reason or another.

Make sure before you buy that this one is what you are looking for. You'll likely get some "mud" - coffee particles escaping the metal filter - at the bottom of the pot, like with any other permanent filter.

Clean it regularly by dumping the used grounds in the trash and then rinsing with water to wash out the rest.
