Chocolate Coffee-Cake Recipe

  • Cream 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 a cup of butter.

  • Add the yolks of 4 eggs and 1/2 a cup of strong cold coffee.

  • Sift in 1J4 cup of flour with 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder.

  • Lastly, stir in \y2 square of melted chocolate.

  • Bake in a loaf and ice with white frosting.

The Chocolate coffeecake recipe is from an old book that I came across lately: Rural Cook Book, "Some Old Recipes and Many New Ones—Being the Collected Wisdom of a Legion of Home Cooks", Published by THE RURAL NEW-YORKER, NEW YORK, 1907
