Commercial coffee urns are coffee maker percolators, or large coffee pots, that boil water and run it through a basket with coffee ground to brew coffee.

The commercial coffee percolator pots can brew many cups of coffee depending on the unit. Some brew 30 cups, while other commercial perks will brew as many as 100 cups of coffee.

The brewing time of the coffee percolators are reasonable given the amount of coffee they brew. They usually perk at a cup-a-minute speed. Coffee urns also keep coffee hot for hours.

A point to keep in mind when considering coffee percs is that perking urns are noisy, and if you are not used to that bubbling sound, it can be distracting, especially if it perks while giving a lecture to your audience. A good idea to avoid this problem is to plan ahead and have the coffee ready while the crowds arrive.

30 Cup Stainless Steel Coffee Urn

30 Cup Coffee Urn, Stainless Steel. This urn has the capacity of brewing 30 small sized cups of coffee, great for a crowd of people, social gatherings, workshops, conferences and other events and places attended by many people.

It works fine, brews about the cup-a-minute speed, and easy to clean. It has the advantage of being made of stainless steel which makes it more attractive and preferable to those not excited about aluminum urns.

It is reasonably priced at about $22.00 at the time of this writing, at Amazon's site.

I have seen some complaints about this unit and even more so their customer service, though, so if the aluminum doesn't bother, I personally would rather buy the commercial coffee urns from the West Bend brand, even though it is more expensive (about twice as much).

30 Cup – Aluminum commercial coffee urn

West Bend 58030 12-30 Automatic Party Perk. Aside of the fact that it is made of aluminum, which not everyone likes, it is a good percolator that brews 30 cups (small size) of hot coffee or heat up water for other beverages.

It is great for commercial purposes, like gatherings, meetings and parties.

It’s about $40 at Amazon’s site now (as of this writing).

12-42 Cup Percolator Coffee Maker

West Bend 58002 12-42 Cup Automatic Party Perk Coffee Urn. This Party Perk coffee urn is good for parties, gatherings and large groups as a commercial coffee pot. It brews hot and god tasting coffee.

It makes 42 so-called “cups” of coffee, which actually is much less, since "cups" refer to smaller size and not 8oz cups. It brews at a cup-a-minute rate, so at about a ¾ hour you’ll have some 42 small cups.

The coffee pot is made of aluminum. It looks a bit flimsy, has no on/off button (which means that to turn it on and off you have to plug it in and out), and has a short cord.

All this said, it is considered a good product for its price ($45.00 at Amazon’s site, at the time of this writing), and it’s recommended to buy this coffee maker.

100 Cup Coffee Urn

West Bend 33600 100-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn. This coffee urn is a well constructed coffee pot and makes good hot coffee. It is made of polished aluminum.

It makes 100 smaller sized cups at a cup-a-minute rate. It is great for cafes, large offices and gatherings.

The urn is noisy when brewing, which for some can be a bit annoying.

It has a "ready" indicator light, indicating when the coffee is ready, and also an automatic keep-warm mode; once the coffee is brewed it switches to this keep-warm, serving-temperature mode and the light turns on.

The cover of the coffee pot locks in place to prevent it from accidentally spilling.

It is a great buy for the price of about $110 at the time of this writing, at Amazon’s site.
